Finnish association of the dark bee keepers was founded 2017.

The president of the associaton is Lassi Kauko, lkauko@netti.fi, vice president Markku Pöyhönen  and secretary Raija Haataja-Nurminen

There are some tens of beekeepers with dark bees, the number of colonies is some hundreds. The sudden death of Aimo Nurminen, our leading breeder was a great loss for the association. Now swe are organizing continuation of his work

SICAMM congress was organized by the Finnish Beekeepers´association July 12th-15th  2018  in Mustiala. Congress had nearly 90 participants, during the congress we could listen to over 32 presentations, themes contained DNA analyces of bees, breeding, varroa tolerance, brands of the honey produced by dark bees. After congress we had excursions, first day to mating yard of Aimo Nurminen on an island, next day the residence of Finlands President, Kultaranta, where saw the park and dark bees kept by Aimo Nurminen, then the cuity of Naantali and winery Brinkhall

At the meeting Marlean Boerjan from Netherlands was elected to president of SICAMM
